Part 2 The Invention of Peace

In part 2 of T.R. Reid's The United States of Europe, he shares his vision of the future which shows the old age America compared to the star rise of Europe. Author T.R. Reid is fully aware that he needs to provide his audience with a humble prophesy, but with hard facts and evidence. During the post World War II, Europe had the dream of three visionary men : former british prime minister Winston Churchill, whose name resonates with each and every American, along with two other names with reputations that might not come to most people mind. There was former brandy salesman Jean Monner, while the other was the post-war french prime minister and underground fighter which was Robert Schuman. United as one these three men became the architects and builders of what is now today the European Union. The names that future childern in Europe will read and learn about in history books along with Jefferson, Franklin, and Adams. These men along with many other critical thinkers statesman had created the future Euroopean Union, the United States of Europe. While America becomes older, Europe continues to rise the top, but people do no seem to know what is happening.

Do you think Europe will become the future, while America is left in the past. If so explain your reason and why?

  1. I think Europe is the future, because in many ways that have learned many of the lessons from the past which America has not learned. THink of all of the tragedies Europeans have whethered on their continent-- the Plague, World War I, II, the Holocaust, etc. I think European governments understand the role of government and the human condition more than the leaders of the United States thus far.... Anyways, what's up D? (LOL). Be sure that your posts both summarize YOUR reading and understanding and also state what you believe the author's argument to be, his evidence, and how you think it should impact the reader... so far good questions. P.S. who else is in your group? Ms. G

  2. I think Europe will rise to the top someday because they understand a lot more about what is needed to be done in a government, while the U.S. does not, but wow you must really like this book, good job.
